Montifiore Complex, Tel Aviv
A Tribute to the First Orchard
Montifiore Complex, Tel Aviv
The project is located in one of the city’s oldest districts – the Montefiore neighborhood of
Tel Aviv – between HaMasger Street and the Ayalon Highway.
The site was historically home to the first Jewish-owned orchard, on which the
neighborhood was built around 1855.
It is believed that the planned complex was once part
of this orchard, and one surviving tree has been preserved and relocated to a nearby park.
The development consists of three low-rise buildings with a commercial frontage and a
kindergarten cluster. The architectural design draws inspiration from old photographs of
orange crates found in historical records. The buildings feature enclosed balconies
resembling stacked crates, as well as cladding materials such as wood, aluminum, and
plaster.
